Of course, this is a subtle point, but it's another sign that the traditional approach to operating a camera is stuck in the past.This isnвЂ™t a shift in mindset and dials that only affects beginners, however. Easy.Anyone who has taught photography will appreciate how much easier it is to explain this to a beginner. If the dog suddenly starts chasing the kids around the garden, youвЂ™ll want to freeze that movement, so with one click, you put the aperture back to auto and then scroll to set the shutter speed to 1/1000th of a second.

The camera has auto ISO and allows a max to be set. That goes for photography as well as for carpentry.I shoot with a Canon 60D that was released in 2010 and it essentially provides all of the functionality you are describing in this article and very conveniently through the dial at the top of the camera. Oh, and the exposure compensation would need to be dialled in as soon as you choose any automation.As always, the camera is a tool and the better you know the tool and the trade, the better your results. My first choice for automation is normally the ISO, otherwise aperture or shutter speed depending on what I want to achieve, bokeh/depth of field, long exposures/landscape/portraiture/action.

I can switch between my shooting modes with 1 or 2 rotations of 1 dial and this sounds easier to me than what you described for the Fuji. And of course, the dials on the top and back of camera make it easy to tweak these values on the fly if I desire, but it begins with the mindset that I pick one mode to control depth of field or the other to control motion capture, whether blurred or frozen. I switch to Av if I want my depth of field, or I switch to Tv if I want to freeze motion. I use P if I want to be lazy and let the camera decide.

I would not buy a camera that didn't allow me to easily set these overrides, and I define easy as not having to click through a series of menus or screen selections on the back of the camera to do it.
